Agnes C.
Jensen
Jan 19, 1930 — Apr 26, 2025
Burr Ridge
AGNES C. JENSEN, aged 95, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at Harvester Place in Burr Ridge, Illinois. She was born to Bridget and Jack Casey on January 19,1930, in Kilcummin, Cloonacool, County Sligo, Ireland. She was the youngest of five, who all preceded her in death, Mary (Ted) Stephenson, Jim Casey, Mike (Margaret) Casey, and Tom Casey.
Her life's true adventure began at the early age of 18 when she bravely boarded a plane alone bound for America to live with a maternal aunt and uncle she had never met. She loved living in the City of Chicago, yet she routinely traveled back to Europe to visit her family.
Agnes met her true love Fred Jensen on a blind date, and they enjoyed a loving marriage until his death in 2004. Rumor has it she shared her first kiss with Fred. Together they went on to welcome four children, Roger, Tom, Donna, and Kathy. Agnes was active in St. Bede the Venerable parish located on Chicago's Southwest Side. An avid reader, she was a volunteer librarian for several years at the grade school.
In addition to celebrating holidays with her extended family and caring for her grandchildren, Agnes enjoyed listening to live Irish music, dog and cat sitting, and gardening. She grew a variety of vegetables and even a bounty of hops for her son to experiment with brewing.
One cannot live a long precious life without enduring a fair amount of heartache. In addition to her husband Fred, Agnes was preceded in death by many family members and friends whom she loved dearly, including her daughter Donna Kearns, granddaughter Kaitlyn Kearns, and in-laws Rosemary and George Lagios.
Agnes is survived by her children Roger (Debbie) Jensen, Tom (Kathy) Jensen, and Kathy (John) Watts, and son-in-law Kevin (Donna) Kearns; grandchildren Eric (Beatriz) Jensen, Keith Jensen, Peter (Maura) Jensen, Dan Jensen, Kevin (Terri) Kearns, Matt Kearns, Kelly (Matt) Borowski, Abby Kearns, Hannah Watts and Casey Watts; and great-grandchildren Colton, Cade, Emery, Callen, Margot, Penelope, Lillian, and Madison. And her nieces and nephews Debbie Britton (Russ), Rosemarie Trigg, Terry Stephenson, and John Casey.
Later in life, Agnes regularly attended Christmas Midnight Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 105 Herrick Rd, Riverside, Illinois, where her funeral mass will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., preceeded by a visitation at 10:00 a.m. A private burial will be scheduled at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Illinois. A special thank you to ALC Hospice and the wonderful team at Harvester Place where Agnes thoroughly enjoyed her final years. Arrangements entrusted to Cermak Funeral Directors, Brian D. Kuratko-Director. Info at 708-562-5900
