Alice M Dunn, nee Ondrla, longtime resident of Oak Park passed away suddenly on October 11, 2025 at the age of 83.  Alice is the beloved wife of 53 years to Robert A. Dunn; loving mother of Julieann (Michael) Hedges and Megan Dunn; the proudest Nana of Brady, Jack and Dylan Hedges; dear sister of Thomas (Christine) Ondrla; fond aunt of Jennifer, Joseph, Mark, Alex, Caitlin, Moira and Robert and dear friend to her childhood soulmate Sharon Wisinski and countless others.  Alice devoted her life to the education of children, beginning at Hiawatha School in Berwyn until she became a mother in 1974.  She stayed home to raise her daughters until returning to education through the Oak Park Park District's preschool program, and finishing out her teaching career with over 20 years at Ascension School 2nd grade.  Alice was an avid gardener with a fondness and a skillset to keep the most beautiful orchids in bloom.  When Alice wasn't feeding her Orchids she was busy nourishing her people with an open door to her home, a warm welcome and a tray of delicious homemade cookies which she also used as bait to ensure visits with her grandsons, and then as it turned out, all of the kids in the neighborhood.  Alice was a diehard White Sox fan who watched every game they played, even during the 2024 season when she might have been the only fan they had (except for her brother Tom).  As a longtime parishioner at Ascension Church, she enjoyed attending mass every Sunday and being a part of the Ascension community. A visitation will be held Monday October 20, 2025 from 9:30 AM until the beginning of a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass, at Ascension Church, 808 S. East Avenue, Oak Park, IL. Alice will be interred privately at Queen of Heaven Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Ascension School, 601 Van Buren St., Oak Park, IL 60304, are deeply appreciated.
