Anthony "Primo" LaCassa of Chicago, age 93. U.S. Army Veteran Korea. Beloved husband of the late Patricia Ann, nee Spalding; preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Mary (Tanzillo) LaCassa; loving father of Tony (Angel), Mary (Matthias) Eichhorn, Jim (Claire), Andrew (Julie) and Paddy; proud Papa of Anthony (Holly), Joey (Ryan), Kristin (John), Matthias (Ashley), Mary, Collette (Rusty), Adam (Terese), Nicole (Ryan), Drew (Avery), Dallas and Dolton; beloved Little Papa of Anthony, Kara, Emree, Easton, Owen, Cole, Aden and Alayna; preceded in death by his siblings Andrew (Marsha), Joseph (Patricia), James (Marie), Marie (late Andrew) Lang, Pat (Joann) and Antoinette (August) DeVivo; loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his Lightways hospice team and his longtime caregivers, Emilie, Peter, Nikki, Jillian and Gil. Featherweight Tony "Primo" LaCassa was one of the fighting LaCassa brothers in the 1950's. In the ring, Primo's body attack and discipline were relentless. His pro record was 18-5-2. After serving his country in Korea, Primo became one of the top amateur and professional trainers throughout the Chicagoland area. He truly paid it forward in his lifetime training boxers Luke Capuano, John Comforte, John Mollo and so many others. Due to his total dedication, Primo was inducted into the Illinois Boxing Hall of Fame on November 4, 2016. He was a proud member of Labor Local 1001 for over 50 years and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) since 1992 when he appeared in the movie "Gladiator". Primo's legacy will forever be remembered. Family and friends will be received at the Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Rd., Westchester on Friday, June 9, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All to meet Saturday at The Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii, 1224 W. Lexington St., Chicago for a 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass.
