Brother Michael M. (Jerome) Callary, O.S.M., 92, died on November 16, 2024 at Citadel at Casa Scalabrini in Northlake, IL.

Bro Michael was a professed friar in the Order of Friar Servants of Mary (Servites) for 68 years and lived in retirement at Our Lady of Sorrows Monastery in Chicago, IL, until shortly before his death.

Bro Michael was born in Chicago, IL on March 21, 1932 to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Turner) Callary. He entered the Servite Order in 1953 at Our Lady of Sorrows Monastery and later completed his novitiate at Mount Saint Philip Priory in Granville, WI, where he made his first profession of religious vows in August 1956. He professed solemn vows in the Servite Order on October 25, 1959. Brother Michael spent most of his life serving in administrative roles within the Servite Order and at various schools in the Chicago area.

Bro Michael was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Elizabeth and his brothers Robert, Thomas and Martyn. He is survived by several nephews, a niece, cousins and friends.

His funeral will take place on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 9:00 AM, Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica, 3121 W. Jackson Blvd in Chicago. There will be a viewing at 9:00 AM and the Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
