Carl Joseph Panek, longtime resident of Westchester, age 85. US Army Veteran, Beloved husband of Janice Panek, nee Smith; loving father of Christopher (Laima Day) Panek and Kathleen Panek; proud grandfather of Andrew Day; dear brother of Allen (Marguerite) Panek and Joseph Panek; fond uncle of Brian, David, Blythe, Dylan, Deborah, Naomi and Gregory. Retired after many years of service as an Editor with the Chicago Tribune. Carl was the longtime Chairman for the Lifesource/Westchester Blood Drive Program, an active member of Westchester Community Church, a true "newspaper" man who loved to fish and was a die-hard fan of the Chicago White Sox.  Family and friends will be received at the Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Rd., Westchester on Monday, April 17, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All to meet Tuesday at Westchester Community Church, 1840 Westchester Blvd., Westchester for a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Service.
