Catherine Marie
"Kate" Scotty
Mar 11, 1960 — Jan 31, 2025
Oak Park
Catherine Marie "Kate" Scotty, 64, of Oak Park, IL, passed away on January 31, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Kate was the beloved wife and partner of Elias Zavala, with whom she shared a beautiful life. She was a devoted mother to Joel and Luke, and a caring mother-in-law to Steffani, whom she loved like her own daughter. Known affectionately as "Monka," Kate found tremendous joy in her role as a grandmother to Kaylee (15) and Ozzie (2), who brought light and laughter into her world.
Kate's love extended beyond her immediate family. She was a dear sister to Neale (Sue), Sharon (Dave), Mike (Amy), Brian (Barb), Meg (Guy), Tom (Carol), Matt (Donna), Madolyn (Kevin), and Sean (Jocelyn). Her heart was big enough to embrace her many nieces and nephews—Alec, Christopher, Daniel (Meaghan), Mark (Britta), Jack (Alex), Meghan (Pat), Ben, Suzy (Rob), Casey, Cara, Alex, Seamus, Finley, Emma, Katherine, Lizzie, Anne, Cailyn, Declan, Maxine (Patrick), Nancy, Christina, Rosie, Katie, Emily, Maddy, Gabe, Isabel, Sofia, Alicia, Aidan, Kai, Isaiah, and Yajaira—each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Kate will be remembered for her immeasurable kindness, her tenacious spirit, and her unwavering dedication to the people she loved. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, and her generous heart touched the lives of all who knew her. "Coach Kate" gave her all to everyone who needed her, and was a true leader in her family, on dozens of baseball and softball fields, and for the countless numbers of people she helped find and maintain sobriety over her 36+ years sober.
A celebration of Kate's life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Robert's Westside, 7321 Madison St., Forest Park from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with "Short Remarks at 12 p.m." In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to RUSH Oak Park Hospital, or to your local youth baseball or softball organization. Arrangements entrusted to Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home. For info 708-F-U-N-E-R-A-L.
