Catherine Marie Sullivan, of Westmont, Illinois, passed away at home, with family on April 9, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with lupus and lung cancer. She was 72 years of age.

Born on December 8, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, Catherine was the beloved daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (née McLaughlin) Sullivan.

She graduated from Trinity High School in 1971 and continued her education at Northern Illinois University. During her college years, Cathy began experiencing health challenges and, after an extended period of uncertainty, was diagnosed with lupus. She faced this illness with remarkable strength and perseverance throughout her life.

In 1974, Cathy began her distinguished career with the Illinois Secretary of State Division of Motor Vehicles. Over the course of more than three decades of dedicated service, she held a variety of roles and earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues prior to her retirement in 2008.

In 1982, Cathy made her home in Forest Park and later established her residence in Westmont in 1994, where she remained for the rest of her life.

Cathy had a deep appreciation for travel and valued the time she spent exploring new places and visiting loved ones. Among her many cherished experiences were trips to Ireland with her cousins, a backpacking journey through Europe with her sister and brother-in-law, and visits to Washington, D.C., Virginia, and North Carolina to be with family.

For many years Cathy and her good friend, the late Carrie Coppini, could be found laughing and enjoying their weekly Bingo obsession. Cathy's other passion was crafting various projects to be gifted to friends and family.

She is survived by her siblings: Mary, Michael (Diane), Margy (Brian) Ripa, and Terry Sullivan; and by her beloved nieces and nephews: Eamonn Cogan; Mick and Bailey Sullivan; Bridget (Tyler Eubanks); Brendan, (Amanda); Michael and (his fiancée Skye Synder) Ripa. She is also survived by many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends will be received at the Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Road, Westchester, Illinois, on Friday, April 24, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Giles, 1045 Columbian Avenue, Oak Park, Illinois. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at church before Mass. The mass will be live streamed - please click on the Watch Video Link below.
