Dorothy Tennes, née Chrzanowski, of Westchester, age 91. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Tennes; loving mother of David (Vickie Lord) Tennes, Victoria Fantuzzi, and Noelle (Joseph) DiBartolo; proud grandmother of Jordyn (Kevin) Farshchi, Nick (Lauren) Fantuzzi, Joey, Brittney, and Natalie DiBartolo; dear sister of the late Gilbert (late Mary) Carter; fond aunt and dear friend of many.

Dorothy was born and raised on the south side of Chicago where her parents had a small grocery store; and it was in that neighborhood where she made her earliest friendships. That list of friends grew throughout her life, once you were in her orbit it was forever.

She was a Chicago Public School teacher for over 30 years in the same neighborhood where she grew up. After she retired from teaching, she spent her time traveling and in the company of her grandchildren.

Our mother was smart, beautiful, wickedly funny, and devilishly mischievous. She loved art, opera, ballet, good food, and TJ Maxx. We’re all going to miss her deeply.

Family and friends will be received at the Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Rd., Westchester on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Chapel Service 12:00 noon. Interment private. For funeral info 708-F-U-N-E-R-A-L.
