Frederick Charles
"Charlie" Rasmason Iv
Apr 10, 1983 — Jun 28, 2026
Westchester
Frederick Charles Rasmason IV, lovingly known to all as Charlie, moved on from this world on June 28, 2026. Born on April 10, 1983, in Oak Lawn, Illinois, Charlie lived a life that was as vibrant, generous, and full of adventure as anyone could hope for. He embraced every opportunity to experience the beauty of the world, connect with others, and make a lasting difference in the lives of those around him.
Charlie is survived by his beloved husband, Ben Westphal; his parents, Frederick Charles Rasmason III ("Fred") and Concepcion ("Connie") Rasmason; his brother, Randy (Emily) Rasmason; and his cherished niece and nephews, Cayden, Gavin, Lexi, and Judah, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
To know Charlie was to know someone who truly lived life to the fullest. His heart belonged to Chicago, a city he loved exploring through its incredible restaurants, theaters, concerts, festivals, and neighborhoods. His calendar was almost always filled with dinner plans, Broadway shows, live music, or time spent making memories with family and friends. Yet he was just as happy spending a quiet evening curled up on the couch watching his favorite sports, figure skating and gymnastics, with the same enthusiasm he brought to every other part of life.
Charlie also had an adventurous spirit that carried him around the globe. His passport was filled with stamps and stories, each trip adding another treasured memory. Among his favorite adventures were visiting an elephant sanctuary in Thailand and exploring the breathtaking beauty of the Greek Islands. He believed that the world was meant to be experienced, and he inspired others to seek out new places, new people, and new perspectives.
Professionally, Charlie answered a calling to care for others. He began his career as a Cardiac ICU nurse, where his compassion, skill, and calm presence touched countless patients and families. His natural leadership led him to become Nurse Manager of his hospital's cardiac unit and later Director of Cardiovascular Services. He was deeply respected by his colleagues not only for his knowledge and dedication but for his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support. Charlie always made time to listen, to encourage, and to help others find the confidence to grow. He had an extraordinary gift for bringing out the very best in people, often reminding them to let their own light shine.
More than anything, Charlie believed life was meant to be celebrated—with laughter around the dinner table, music that moved your soul, meaningful conversations, unforgettable adventures, and love shared generously. His warmth, infectious smile, incredible hugs, adventurous spirit, and genuine care for others leave a legacy that will continue to brighten the lives of everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Charlie's life at Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Road, Westchester, Illinois (two blocks west of Mannheim Road), on Friday, July 10, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A graveside funeral service will be held at St Mary Catholic Cemetery in Evergreen Park (87th Street &, S Hamlin Ave, Evergreen Park, IL 60805) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
Charlie filled his life and the lives of everyone around him with light. He believed that life was meant to be lived fully: to travel often, gather with those you love, cheer loudly at concerts and shows, embrace new adventures, care for others with compassion, and always let your light shine. If you wish to honor Charlie's memory, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to The Ally Coalition (TAC), an organization that partners with artists and the music and entertainment industries to raise awareness and funds in support of LGBTQ+ youth around the world. It is a cause that reflects Charlie's generous heart, his unwavering belief in lifting others up, and his hope that everyone could be celebrated for exactly who they are. May we all carry his light forward by living with the same joy, kindness, and love that he so freely shared. For funeral info 708-F-U-N-E-R-A-L.
