Obituary

Georgia V. Regas, nee Gatziolis, 92, long-time resident of Oak Brook, Illinois, passed away on March 28, 2025. She was born on November 25, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Thomas J. and Alexandria Gatziolis, nee Athanasopoulou.

Georgia is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, James A. Regas. She was a devoted mother of Suzanne, Dean and Allyson. Proud Grandmother of 5 grandchildren, James Regas II, Georgia Regas, Hope Regas, Madeline Regas and Kyla Regas; dear Sister of the late Eugenie (late Peter) Tragos, the late John (late Maria) Gatziolis and the late William (late Shirley) Gatziolis; fond Aunt of many nephews and nieces.

Georgia grew up on the west side of Chicago and River Forest. She graduated from Austin High School and went on to earn a teaching degree at Chicago Teachers College. Following graduation, she taught at Plato School when it was affiliated with Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Chicago.

Georgia loved to read and work on crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed golfing, cooking, sewing and traveling with family and friends, but most of all she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. They were the light of her life.

All are asked to meet at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 601 S. Central Ave., Chicago on Friday, April 4, 2025 for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Interment Bronswood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, Chicago or the National Hellenic Museum, Chicago would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Chris J.
