James J. Plepel, Sr., age 80, of Westchester, formerly of Oak Park, loving husband of Kathleen Plepel, nee Powell, for 53 years.  Beloved father of Maureen (Manuel) Rodriguez, Jennifer Plepel, John (Melissa Myer) Plepel, James Jr. (Karena) Plepel, Thomas (Maya Puentes) Plepel, Scott (Rachel) Plepel.  Fond grandfather of Andrew, Myreah, Eduardo and Fernando Rodriguez and Cole, James, Sophia, Cameron, Evan, and Sydney Plepel.  Great Grandfather of Aiden and Esmeralda.  Son of the late John and the late Rose, nee Kovac, Plepel.  Brother of Nancy Carbonara.  Jim was a member of the A. L. Brodi American Legion Westchester Post 1437.  He was a mainstay of St. Vincent de Paul Society Chicago for many years and was the former District VIII President.  He was also on the Spiritual Committee, Formation Committee and SVdP-ADC Disaster Services.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Vincent de Paul Society (Society of St. Vincent DePaul Archdiocese of Chicago, 12731 South Wood Street, Blue Island, IL 60406) in Jim's name would be appreciated.  Family and friends will be received at Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Rd. (two blocks west of Mannheim) on Tuesday, January 3, from 3 – 8 pm.  All to meet Wednesday, January 4, at St. Bernardine Church, 7246 W.
