Oak Brook

Obituary

Jean Pavlakos, nee Kitsos, of Oak Brook. Beloved wife of the late Dino "Gust" Pavlakos; loving mother of Dr. Bob Pavlakos; cherished daughter of the late Alexander and Angeline Kitsos; dear sister of Bettie (Dr. Emanuel) Rothis and the late Dr. James Kitsos; sister-in-law of the late Space Chrones, and the late George Pavlakos; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Jean was born in Detroit, Michigan. Along with her family when growing up, she attended St. Constantine and Helen Church regularly, where she was a member of the choir. Jean worked her way through college with different jobs excelling in all of them. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Education and Library Science from Wayne State University in Detroit. Subsequently, Jean earned a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She worked as a teacher and librarian in Dearborn, Michigan and Elmwood Park, Illinois schools.

Jean, Dino and Bob were fond of traveling together in their spare time enjoying many wonderful trips both domestically and to European destinations. After her teaching and library career, she was able to spend more time with her husband and son and travel frequently to visit her family in Detroit. Friends and family always enjoyed talking with Jean because she was a great communicator, listener and gave heartfelt advice.

As a librarian, Jean had a voracious appetite for reading, beginning every morning sharing intelligent discussions on many topics together with her beloved husband, Dino, over a cup of coffee. Jean and Dino loved every spring going to pick out flowers to plant together on their sundeck.

Jean was the Executive Vice President of the private nursing registry she owned with her husband in the Chicago western suburbs. In her free time, Jean enjoyed playing tennis with her friends and golf with Dino and Bob. Jean was a loving wife to Dino and a wonderful mom to Bob. She was a devout Orthodox Christian with a strong faith and love for her church. She always enjoyed spending quality time with her friends, and they created many lasting memories together. Jean selflessly gave of herself to help any one who needed her. Jean's kindness and genuine heart will be missed by all fortunate enough to have known her. She is now together once again with her beloved husband, Dino. May their beautiful love for each other live on and may their memories be eternal.
