Obituary

Jeanne Ellen Toomey Devine passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on October 6, 1953, Jeanne lived with energy, humor, and a deep commitment to the people she loved. She liked bringing people together and hosting large family gatherings. Some of her favorite pastimes were cooking, singing along and dancing to a favorite song, and spending time with family. She especially liked family trips to Charleston. Jeanne also laughed easily — a distinctive, infectious giggle that those close to her will always remember.

Jeanne grew up in River Forest and attended Trinity High School. She graduated from John Carroll University, which is where she met her husband of 47 years, Michael J. Devine. They got married in 1978 at St. Luke Catholic Church. She went on to work for Bank Marketing Association before her children were born. Later, she finished her career at DialAmerica Marketing in Oak Brook, where she was loved by all. Jeanne and Mike lived in Willowbrook for the past 40 years, where they raised their family and enjoyed a community of great neighbors.

Jeanne leaves behind her devoted husband and two daughters. She was the proud mother of Alana Devine Porfirio and Julianne Devine, mother-in-law of Michael Porfirio, and grandmother of Gabriella Mae and Jacqueline Jeanne. She was the daughter of the late Mary Clare and the late John David Toomey.

Besides her immediate family, she is survived by her siblings: Marianne Beausoleil; John Toomey (Pam); Norine Toomey; Mary Clare – Mimi – Toomey (Terrence); and Julianne Nash (Terry). She was preceded in death by her sister Margaret Morgan, brother in-law Ken Beausoleil, brother-in-law John Morgan, brother-in- law David Bunoski, and niece Mary Claire Morgan. She will also be missed by the Devine family, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. In her later years, she was compassionately cared for by Lola and Grace, for which the family is eternally grateful.
