Jeanne Ritchie, late of The Sheridan in Oak Brook formerly of River Forest, Oak Park and Whitewater, Wisconsin; she was the beloved wife of the late William Hasson Ritchie, Jr.; devoted mother of Mary Elizabeth (John) White, the late Cynthia (Bruno) Szustak; William Hasson Ritchie III (Meredith); Kathleen (William) Fahey, Michael (Bridget) Ritchie, and Bridget Bennett Ritchie (fiancé Thomas Brcka); dearest Grammy & Mimi to Elizabeth (Ian) Hudson, Annie Laurie (Daniel) Berni, Martin White, MD (Margaret), Nora (Kevin) Malone, Timothy, the late Bobby, Joseph (Kristen), and Daniel (Paulina) Fletcher, William Hasson Ritchie IV, Caroline and Connor Fahey, Delia, Patrick, Theodore and Harrison Ritchie, and Matthew and Jack Pingel; special Great-Grammy to Holly, Leah, Callum and Gemma Hudson, John, Margot and Rosemary Berni, Leo, Susannah and Eliza White, Brennan, Sullivan, Quinn, Siobhán and Róisín Malone, and August Fletcher. She was the dear daughter of the late Lester David and Cornelia Rita Sullivan Walsh; she was the youngest of 6 children: brothers James, Willam and Richard Walsh and her sisters, Noreen Cooney and Marjorie Ocasek, all of whom pre-deceased her; in addition, she is survived by many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was a long-time member of Ascension Church in Oak Park; member of the Trinity High School Class of 1950; 40 year employee of Cooney & Conway in Chicago. She loved family gatherings, a good joke, good conversation, she could dish the sarcasm like no other and had a comment for everything – we will never stop missing her! All are asked to meet Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Ascension Church, 808 S. East Ave., Oak Park for Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Richard Peddicord, O.P., President of Fenwick High School and Fr. Richard LaPata, O.P., Past President of Fenwick High School co-presiding. Interment Graceland Cemetery is private.
