JoAnn Gardner, nee Spadafore, of Chicago formerly of Michigan and South Carolina, age 92. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Harrison Gardner; loving mother of Stephen (Elizabeth) Gardner and the late Kathryn Creal; proud grandmother of U.S. Army CPT Austin Creal, Braedon (Katherine) Creal and William, Clare and Libby Gardner; dear sister of the late Mary Kay Vincent and the late Patricia (late Donald) Pope; fond aunt of Brian (Angela) Pope and their children, Owen and Smith.

JoAnn was a lifelong educator, devoted mother and grandmother, and passionate reader. She inspired countless people through her wisdom, kindness, and love of learning. Her greatest joy was her family, and her greatest gift was the positive impact she had on the lives of others. She will be remembered for her intellect, compassion, and the lasting legacy she leaves in the hearts of all who knew her.
