John
Drakes
Sep 25, 1934 — Jun 3, 2026
Berwyn
John Drakes of Berwyn, age 91. Beloved husband of the late Dimitra, née Bazos; loving father of Demetra (Dario) Del Fiacco, Alexandra (Dean) Andreakis and Christina (James Remp) Liampotis; proud grandfather of Antonio (fiancée Alison), Velia and Demitra Del Fiacco, Callista and Anthony Andreakis, George (Lisset) and Yianni Liampotis and John Remp; dear brother of Paul (Konstantina) Drakes, Lambrini (late Panagiotis) Tsihlopoulos, Athanasia (George) Theodoropoulos, the late Stavroula (the late Stavros) Melegos, late Maria (late Evaggelos) Blanas, late Aphrodite (late Nicholas) Psikos, the late Nicholas (late Konstantina) Drakes and the late infant siblings Vasiliki and Dimitrolula Drakes; fond uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews.
At just 17 years old, he came to America from Greece in search of a better life. Through hard work, determination, and love for his family, he helped bring all seven of his siblings to this country, giving them opportunities that became the American dream. He dedicated much of his life to George's Tavern in Berwyn, continuing a tradition that has been part of the community for more than 86 years. He loved traveling, especially to Greece, and taking his family out to dinner. He always kept up with the news and loved history and geography. He often spoke about his experiences as a child, his early years in America, and his beloved parents who he missed deeply. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and having them near at all times. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He leaves behind three loving daughters, eight grandchildren, three siblings, and many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory. We take comfort in knowing he is reunited with his beloved wife, whom he missed dearly. May his memory be eternal.
