Judith Ann
Closius
Aug 16, 1955 — Oct 31, 2025
Westchester
Judith Ann (Hueve) Closius passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025 surrounded with the love of her family. Born in Lima, Ohio on August 16, 1955, Judy's early years were spent on the Hueve family farm. It was farm life in her hometown of Ottawa that taught her the importance of hard work and perseverance; traits she carried with her throughout her life. She'd leave Ottawa to start a family in Toledo, where she raised her three children: Phillip, Margaret and Elizabeth (Betts). She coached her daughters in several sports and often hosted many children at the family home. Her warmth and love shone through as she raised her three children.
Later in life, Judy moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan with her wife, Diane, and their dogs. She became a school counselor and enjoyed outdoor adventures – boating, hiking and birding in particular. As life progressed, Judy loved becoming a grandmother, or Nana as she was called. She was Nana to three girls: Sabrina (9), Ariana (7) and Madeleine (6 months). Her grandchildren were her greatest joy – she was pen pals with Sabrina, would play 'college' with Ari and loved making bird noises for her newest granddaughter, Madeleine.
Judy lived five years with an aggressive form of cancer; not once complaining about treatment or her prognosis. Her faith got her through difficult times and she lived life to the fullest: trips to Orlando, Key West, Sedona and Ottawa. Most important to her, she got precious time with family. She'd spend the last years of her life in Westchester, Illinois – close to her daughter, Margaret. She was a parishioner of St Francis Xavier Church, where she was a member of the choir. Her neighbors quickly learned about her love of gardening, as she single-handedly transformed her new surroundings. She lived a full life.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Alphonse Hueve; brothers Dave, Anthony (Anf) and John; and wife Diane. She leaves behind her three loving children, her daughter-in-law Fatima, son-in-law Mike, three grandchildren, four siblings, countless nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
We will celebrate Judy's life with a visitation at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lagrange, Illinois on Friday, November 7th at 10am. Visitation will be immediately followed by a funeral mass at 10:30am. A luncheon will follow the service at Mattone Restaurant (9 E 31st St Lagrange Park, IL 60526).
