Karen J. Subaitis, nee Glass, of Indian Head Park formerly of Mapleton, IL, age 80. Loving mother of Ronald (Gail) DeTrempe, Renee (Scott) Smentek and the late Donald DeTrempe, Steven Subaitis; proud grandmother of Christina (Frankie), Derek (Lauren), Christopher (Micalah) Stephanie (David) and Jane (Daniel); great-grandmother of Mason, Gianna, Gabriel, Giovanni, Luke, Lucia, Jeremiah, Levi and Luigi; preceded in death by her siblings, James, Daisy (Helen) and LaVerne (Pete); fond aunt and friend of many.

Our mom was one of the smartest and most giving people we've ever known. She always thought about others before herself and cared deeply about how people felt. She was strong-willed, stubborn at times, and never afraid to speak her mind—qualities that made her who she was and that we loved and admired so much. She loved watching Jeopardy and never missed a single episode, a small reflection of her sharp mind and love of learning. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy, laughter, and pride. She was a proud mother to her children, a loving grandmother, and a devoted great-grandmother. She will be missed beyond words, but her love, strength, and spirit will always live on through all of us.

Your love was our greatest gift, and your strength our guide. Though our hearts ache, we find comfort knowing you're finally at peace. We'll carry your love with us, always.
