Kathryn A. Shrutek (nee Vicha), 5 days prior to her 81st Birthday, of North Riverside, Illinois. Born to the late Frank and the late Lillian Vicha of Berwyn, Illinois. Beloved soulmate and life partner of Robert L. Shrutek. Loving mother of Jeanne (David) Kelly, Kristina Shrutek and the late Robert A. Shrutek. Proud grandmother of Brendan, Ryan (fiancée Ella Sperry) and Aidan Kelly. Dear sister of Dorothy Hynous and the late Margaret (late Roy) Re. Fond aunt of Jacqueline (Mark) Heyman, Timothy (Mariellen) Re, Matthew (Georgia) Re, Daniel (Kathleen) Re, Theresa (Sean) McLaughlin and the late Angela (Matthew) Schlueter. A former insurance agent, having just retired last year, Kathryn was an avid reader and best patron of the North Riverside Library. She loved nothing more than a good family party and loved to celebrate everything. She has passed along her love of cooking to her grandsons and is perhaps best known for her Bohemian cooking. She was known as the "plant doctor" as she had a great talent for 'resurrecting' indoor plants. Kathryn traveled extensively with her sisters, family and friends and was always talking about her next trip. She appreciated spending time with her dear sisters and friends. She enjoyed playing card games such as Crazy Rummy or Canasta, playing Scrabble, or just about any game. She loved cheering for her grandsons' sporting events or just spending time with them. Family and friends will be received at the Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Rd., Westchester (2 blks West of Mannheim Rd.) on Tuesday November 21, 2023 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral Wednesday 9:15am from the funeral home to Mater Christi Church in North Riverside for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. (All services will conclude after Mass) Interment Private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathryn's memory to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital at ( www.stjude.org).
