Obituary

Luigina Paparo, née Gervasio, age 96, of North Riverside, IL died peacefully at home on Friday, November 22, 2024. She was born March 1, 1928, in Magisano, Catanzaro, Italy, to Domenico Gervasio and Francesca Caterina Solone. A courageous young woman, she immigrated to the United States at the age of 21 before sponsoring numerous family members to follow in her footsteps, creating a legacy of multiple generations. As a pillar of the entire extended family, she always gave everything she had to help anyone in need. To quote her daughter, she lived a hard life, but it never made her hard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio; brothers Francesco (Franceschina) and Giuseppe (Angiolina) Gervasio; and sister Antonietta (Mario) Fotino. She is survived by her loving children, Elizabeth and Anthony (Gloria); adoring grandchildren, Angela and Anthony (Ashley); and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Her words of advice encapsulate how she lived: Be kind and take care of each other. Family and friends will be received at the Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Rd., Westchester on Sunday, December 1, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Monday 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. proceeding to Mater Christi Church for an 11:00 a.m. Mass.
