Mary Ann Bissias fell asleep peacefully in the Lord on December 11, 2024, following a long illness. She is survived by George, her beloved husband of nearly 65 years; her children Rev. David, and Nicole (Mike) James, along with her grandchildren George Bissias, Josie James, and Efthymia Bissias. Preceded in death by her parents Nicholas and Katherine Gianacopoulos, her brother Peter and sister Elaine Maniatis.

Mary Ann was born in Chicago and raised in Melrose Park, Illinois, with the very many aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends that she adored until the end.

In addition to her work at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital and later with various telecom firms, she was a most dedicated member of the philanthropic Ladies Philoptochos Society of her Greek Orthodox Church. She served as the chapter president of her longtime parish home of Holy Apostles (Westchester, IL), then as President of the Philoptochos Board of the Diocese (now Metropolis) of Chicago, and finally in retirement for a term as president at the Assumption Church of Scottsdale, AZ.

Whether it be her many family members, the women of "Club," special persons from her workplaces, and new friends in Arizona, Mary Ann cherished them all and came to the end of her time here devoted to all she loved so deeply.
