Obituary

Maureen A. Roche (nee Mulvihill) was the proud and loving mother of Erin Kathleen Jones (Daniel Jones), Raphael M. “Rafe” Roche (Lynne, née Nolen), Anthony J. “Tony” Roche (Jessica, née Fiedler), Daniel T. Roche (Carolyn, née Wilson), Martin P. Roche (Margaret, née Crotty), and Timothy J. Roche.

She was the proud and loving grandmother of 15 grandchildren: Teagan, Cooper, and Kenedi Jones; Emma, Maggie, and Connor Roche; Fiona, Colin, Tara, and Braeden Roche; Nathan and Abigail Roche; and Reece, Lewis, and Quentin Roche. Loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Maureen was also a devoted caretaker and honorary mom and grandmother to countless beloved family pets over the years, including dogs, cats, hamsters, and the many goldfish brought home from Ascension Mission Day. She was always ready to show her affection and greet them with a treat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Agnes “Toots” (née Flanagan) Mulvihill, and her beloved siblings, Carol Jean Mulvihill Chidester and Thomas Mulvihill.

Maureen spent countless hours watching, supporting, and cheering on her children and grandchildren in the sports they loved. She took great pride in being there for her family and celebrating their many milestones and accomplishments.

A proud graduate of Ascension School in Oak Park (1962) and Trinity High School in River Forest (1966), Maureen went on to graduate from St. Vincent’s nursing program. She later co-authored a book (St. Vincent's - An Orphanage That Shined) chronicling its history and service to Chicago’s orphaned children.

Maureen dedicated 29 years of service to Loyola University Medical Center, demonstrating a deep commitment to her work and the people she served throughout her career.
