Maureen Cecile Sansone, nee Perkins, of Oak Park - May 9, 1943-September 3, 2024, Age 81. Beloved wife of the late Robert J. Sansone; loving Mother of Matthew (Lubna) and the late Robert J. Jr. Maureen was adored by her Parents the late John Alfred Perkins and Grace Mary (nee Quinlan); dear sister to Virginia (late John) Lowecki, the late Patricia Washington, the late Jack (late Virginia) and the late James; fond Aunt and Great Aunt to many.
Maureen grew up in Oak Park, and attended St. Giles Catholic School, and Siena Catholic High School. After graduating in 1961, She worked for a Public Relations firm in Chicago, managing special promotions.In 1967, Maureen and Robert married, then after starting their family in 1969, she left work to raise her family. At that time, she developed an interest in community affairs finding many volunteer opportunities. Over the years she contributed greatly to many causes such as the Chicago Public Schools, Old Town Triangle Art Center, Old Town Art Fair, then after moving to River Forest where they resided for many years, she lent her desire to contribute to a good cause with Thresholds, Sarah's Inn, The River Forest Public schools, her St. Giles Church community and in more recent years to the Oak Park Senior Center and her Condo Association, serving on the boards for each.
Maureen prided herself on being a lifelong learner, curious about many things and enjoying the pursuit of knowledge regarding many topics, many of which were rooted in the Arts. Maureen graduated from American Academy of Floral Design in 1982 and promptly opened "Cut N Dried" Floral and Gift Shop in Downtown Oak Park, until 1994. Then she became Licensed in Real Estate and worked as an agent from 1997 - 2016. After retiring she remained very active within her church organizations as well as pursuing various hobbies and developing her talents in drawing, painting, needlework, weaving, she thoroughly enjoyed taking classes through the Oak Park Senior Center, and was grateful for the hours of enjoyment she shared with others there. When not engaged in any of the above, she enjoyed a good book spending many hours reading.
Family and friends will be received at the Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Rd., Westchester on Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Monday 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Giles Church for a 10:30 mass. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers donations would be appreciated to Thresholds (www.thresholds.org) or Sarah's Inn (www.sarahsinn.org). For funeral info 708-F-U-N-E-R-A-L.
