Obituary

Nicholas Henry Francis Stimac, longtime restaurateur and community supporter, died most peacefully Tuesday June 20, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 90 years old. Born in LaGrange IL on April 27, 1933, he was the son of the late Joseph and Katherine Stimac. He attended Lyons Township High School. Nick was a natural athlete, so elite that he was recruited by the great "Bear" Bryant to play for Alabama, "The Crimson Tide!" A storied football career was not to be, as he went to work with his brothers. Soon after, he was drafted into the Army.  Nick served bravely with honor as a Sergeant in Korea during the war. Following service to his country, he returned to LaGrange.  Nick met Bonnie Hopkins in 1960 and they married in 1962. Nick is survived by his devoted wife Bonnie, his loving children Kimberly, Christopher, and Tricia (Joe), and his adoring grandchildren Lily, Joey, and Charlie. He is further survived by his sister-in-law Karen Stimac. He was preceded in death by his sisters, brothers, and their spouses, Johnny and Alice Stimac, Mary and John Vicich, Mike and Mary Stimac, Joey and Mickey Stimac, Ann and Jim McManigal, and Bobby and Carol Stimac. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and countless family and friends, all who filled his long and storied years with joy and love. Keep him alive in your heart and memories as he watches over us all from above. In lieu of flowers, donations to Misericordia Heart of Mercy Home in honor of Nick's loving son Chris would be appreciated.  Family and friends will be received at St. Domitilla Church on Saturday, June 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Mass will be at 11:00 a.m.   Inurnment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.   Donald R.
