Patrick Michael
Cusack
Mar 3, 1941 — Feb 29, 2024
La Grange Park
Patrick Michael Cusack, 82, of LaGrange Park, IL, passed peacefully on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
Patrick was born on March 3rd, 1941 in Chicago, IL, the son of Thomas Joseph and Kathryn (Walsh) Cusack. Pat, as he was best known to those around him, grew up in the Chicago neighborhood of Bridgeport, where he met his wife of 60 years, Joyce (Yglesias) Cusack. She survives as do their two children, Laura (Charles Jeanfreau) Cusack of Millburn, NJ, and Michael (Kelly) Cusack of LaGrange Park, IL. Pat was most proud of his beloved grandchildren, Charlie and Katie Jeanfreau and Quinn and Max Cusack. He is also survived by two sisters, Kathryn (Stuart) Levenshus of Westminster, CA, and Jane Mosier of Chicago, IL; and many loved nephews and Godchildren. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Eileen Greer and brother Thomas Cusack.
Pat, a lifelong Chicago White Sox fan, grew up spending much of his time either playing or watching baseball. He received a scholarship to Quigley Preparatory Seminary, where he attended for two years before graduating from Saint Mary of Perpetual Help High School. Following his graduation, Pat enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard, proudly serving as Sergeant during several Chicago events in the 1960's while beginning his long career in the trucking industry. Pat and Joyce raised their family in Chicago's western suburbs, where Pat served as Chairman of the Board for The Avery Coonley School and was involved in many years of coaching for Little League baseball.
Pat made a friend wherever he went. His charm was only matched by his sharp- witted sense of humor. He was a crossword fanatic and had mastered the art of storytelling. Pat could frequently be found cracking jokes on the sidelines of his grandson's baseball games or in the bleachers at the Nazareth Academy home football games. Late in life, he developed an interest in fencing spurred by his grandchildren Charlie and Katie. He was a lifelong sports fan and his grandkids' biggest supporter. His cheerful mood was unquenchable; his bright light will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends will gather at the Nazareth Alexine Chapel, 1515 W. Ogden Ave., La Grange Park, IL., on Saturday, March 9th, 2024 beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass. A private family Interment will take place immediately following at the Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Hillside.
