Paul Edward
Jurack
Nov 5, 1958 — Sep 24, 2025
Chicago formerly of Lyons
Paul Edward Jurack, age 66, born November 5, 1958 in Berwyn, IL died on September 24, 2025 in Chicago, IL from a sudden health event.
Paul, nicknamed Paulie to some, grew up in Lyons, IL and attended Morton West High School. In his youth, he was active in theatre and music, and his passion for guitar lasted throughout his life. Paul had a long and fulfilling media career, starting at a radio station and moving to TV in 1983 at WYCC Channel 20, where he became an Editor and worked until he retired in 2014. He took great pride in his work and loved telling stories from his career: switching on the station, climbing a Chicago skyscraper radio tower, acting in an Emmy-nominated promo, and more. After his retirement, Paul continued to work as a freelance video professional: a testament to his lifelong love for broadcast media.
Paul had many hobbies including bowling, golfing, fishing, choir, Chicago sports, and more. He was a storyteller who loved making others laugh and finding humor in everything. His family is certain he would want everyone who knew him to smile and recall a good laugh and memory they shared.
In his final years, Paul lived quietly at The Breakers at Edgewater Beach in Chicago, IL, relaxing and watching TV (sometimes with a big stack of Oreos and milk) while enjoying the view of the city and lake.
Paul was preceded in death by parents Johanne and Stanley Jurack, his brothers James and John Jurack, sisters Rene Jurack and Lois Clarke, and nephew Mark Jurack.
He is survived by his children Joseph, Anne, and Sara Jurack of Chicago, IL; brother Tom (Barb) Jurack of LaGrange Hlds, IL; sister Mary-Jo (Tom) Divis from Rozet, WY; and sister-in-law Anne Marie McElroy Jurack of Luckey, OH. Also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews: Karyn Jurack Nagel, Mike (Lisa) Jurack, Shawn (Julia) Clarke, Amanda Clarke, Jeremy Clarke, James (Meddy) Jurack, Lindy (Brett) Wagner, Daniel (Kim Miller) Jurack, Jacob Divis, Christine Kruger, and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
