Peter J. Sarangelo, 94, of Hillside, IL, passed away on Sunday May 21, 2023. Peter was born on November 27, 1928 to Giovanni and Carmela Sarangelo in Chicago, IL. After Peter graduated from school, he went on to work multiple jobs which included a wooden toy company, and a vendor at Wrigley Field, Soldier Field and the old Chicago Stadium.

In 1944, he met Rosemary Barber and they were married in 1949, having celebrated almost 74 wonderful years of marriage and having 4 children; Rosemary, Paulette, Carolyn and Francine.

He worked for 48 years for Montgomery Ward, starting in the order center filling orders while on roller skates and working his way up to the building manager for the Montgomery Ward buildings.

Peter was a previous member of the Knights of Columbus organizing the yearly Tootsie Roll drives and also involved with the Village of Hillside on the Planning and Zoning Board; he liked to contribute in any way he could. He was a shining example to those around him and always had a fix for everything. "No problem" was a frequent phrase we would all hear.

Peter was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary (d. April 2023), his parents Giovanni and Carmela, his brother-in-law Jerome Angsten, sister-in-laws Tura Angsten and Jerie Barber and nephew Jerry Angsten. He is survived by his children Rosemary Pasteris (Phil), Paulette Timpanaro (Michael), Carolyn Kurtz (Ed) and Francine Frey (Ed) as well as 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brother-in-law Vince (Cheryl) Barber, and Frank P. Barber Jr. as well as several nieces, and nephews.
