Obituary

Richard J. Enderle, beloved husband (61 years) of Mary Gladys (M.G.) Turner Enderle, died on January 7, 2025. Richard was a longtime resident of Oak Park and River Forest. He was born in Chicago in 1930 to John P. and Edith Fischer Enderle. His siblings: Bill (Sue), Marge (Bob Johnston) and Geri (Hal Stromsen) all predeceased him.

Anyone who knew him, knew Richard to be a loyal graduate of Fenwick High School class of '49. What many may not know is that his college days at St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa, were interrupted by service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was selected as a member of the United Nations Honor Guard in Seoul, Korea, and represented our country as a member of this elite unit for over a year. After discharge, he resumed his college education and graduated from De Paul University.

A consummate salesman, he spent most of his successful business career in the computer business. Richard was a lifelong Chicago Bears fan and former season ticket holder. He also cheered for Notre Dame in all its endeavors. Co-owning a sailboat on Lake Geneva gave the whole family great memories. Golf with friends and family was a highlight well into his eighties, and he regularly worked out and socialized at the Loyola Health Club.

In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by their four children: Elizabeth (Jim Reid), Richard (Beth), John (Amy) and David (Melinda). He was Gramps to: Ryan Reid, Eric (Elisabeth) Reid, Sean (Abby) Reid, Jillian Reid, Taylor Enderle, Patrick Enderle, Grace Enderle and Turner Enderle, and was fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Rd., Westchester on Friday, January 10th, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All to meet Saturday at St. Giles Church, 1025 Columbian Ave., Oak Park, for a 12:30 p.m. Funeral Mass.
