Richard L.
Griffin
Jan 26, 1945 — Feb 19, 2026
Streamwood
Richard "Dick" L. Griffin, age 81, of Streamwood, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on February 19, 2026. Dick was the loving father of Stephanie (Brenton) Norris; Dan (Meg) Griffin and Richard (Carrie Bell) Griffin; proud Papa of Sumner and Griffin Norris, Wyatt and Vivian Griffin and George and Isobel Griffin and a dear brother of Mary Griffin. Dick was the fond former spouse of Nancy Griffin. He was preceded in death by his parents Percy and Helen (nee Roche) Griffin, and siblings, Janet (the late Robert) Van Zeeland and David Griffin.
Dick was born and raised in Oak Park, where he graduated from Fenwick High School, he went on to receive his degree from St. Norbert College. After his education, Dick enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He went on to work for many years at Binks Manufacturing Company in Franklin Park.
To know Dick was to love him and if you met him, you were probably already his friend. He was patient, kind, funny, and so easygoing. He never wanted to inconvenience anyone… except maybe his golf buddies when he outplayed them. He was a great golfer, champion putz around the houser, band list guru, but his favorite title and the one he wore best was Dad.
A celebration of life is being planned and will be announced when the plans have been finalized.
Arrangements entrusted to Peter B. Kennedy & Co., Funeral Directors.
