Richard V. Slowik, age 82, of Westchester, IL was surrounded by his children when he passed peacefully on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 (his mom's birthday). Rich was born on August 8, 1941 to Vic and Stella Slowik. Beloved husband of the late Mary Ann (nee Trembacz) for 58 years, whose love for her began in grammar school.  He was the loving father of Jim (Tracy), Dan, Dave (Heather) Slowik and Jean (Eric) Rosenzweig; proud papa of Sarah, Jimmy, Olivia, Luke and Hadleigh. His greatest pride and highest priority was his family. Rich was the dear brother of Jeannine (late Bob) Adamczyk; fond brother-in-law of the late Ed (LaVerne) Trembacz; playful uncle of many (both blood-related and love-related). He was deeply cherished by many cousins and lifelong friends. Rich's warmth and quick-wit made others want to be around him. Rich enjoyed vacations with his family, especially to Siesta Key, Florida and Cedar River, Michigan. He never missed a sporting event or performance for both his kids and grandkids. He found great joy riding his bicycle on the trails, fishing, playing cards, watching movies and cheering on his beloved White Sox, Blackhawks and Bears (never missed a Bears game). As Clarence said in the movie It's a Wonderful Life - "Remember, no man is a failure that has friends." The Slowiks were fortunate to have their very own George Bailey as their role model. Rich was a caring person that touched the lives of many and will be remembered for his tender smile, sense of humor, singing, dancing and devotion to his family.

Visitation Saturday, March 2, 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Rd., Westchester. Mass to follow at St. Francis Xavier Church, 124 N. Spring Rd., La Grange at 11:00 am. Mass can be seen via livestream at https://www.facebook.com/SFXParish.LG (account not required). Entombment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, masses said in Rich's name are appreciated.
