Obituary

Robert D. "Bob" Schueler, Sr., age 95, went home to be with the Lord on August 21, 2026, at his home in West Lafayette, Indiana, surrounded by family.

He was born December 5, 1930, in Maywood, Illinois, the youngest of six children of the late Carl and Mary Schueler.

Bob lived a life defined by love, faith, and devotion to his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth, with whom he shared 71 years. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and caring for others.

Bob was a true family man who treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. Whether visiting family, welcoming them into his home, helping with a project, or simply sharing a conversation, he always made time for them. His family knew they could count on him, and his generosity, kindness, and willingness to lend a hand were among the many qualities that made him so deeply loved.

Bob had many life experiences and talents throughout his long life, working as a mechanic, electrician, and carpenter. He was someone who could fix, build, or figure out just about anything, but his greatest gift was the way he used those abilities to help others.

His faith was an important part of his life. Bob was active in his church community and was beloved by many of his neighbors in the Tri-State Village neighborhood in Willowbrook, IL where he lived and raised his family for nearly 60 years. He valued the relationships he formed and never seemed too busy to stop and visit, welcome someone into his home, or offer a helping hand. His warm presence, steady nature, and genuine care for others will be remembered by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary Elizabeth Schueler and his four brothers and one sister: John, Ed, Carl, Bill, and Helen (Fenical); and four great-grandchildren, including Carter and Layla Miller.

He is survived by his son, Bob Schueler Jr. (Brenda); his daughter, Lynda Schueler (Steven Wiser); his grandchildren, Arianna Miller (Clint), Dryden Steele (Madeline), Alex Schueler, and Campbell Steele; and his great-granddaughter, Aurora Miller. His family was his greatest joy, and the love, memories, and lessons he gave them will remain a lasting part of their lives.

Bob leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion—a husband who cherished his wife, a father and grandfather who made his family a priority, and a man who spent his life helping others. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
