Robert Wade
Hash
Jun 1, 1942 — Feb 26, 2024
Lombard
Robert Wade Hash passed away on February 26, 2024. Robert was born on June 1, 1942 in Amherst County, Virginia to Herbert Dennis Hash and Emma Martin Hash. He was the youngest of twelve children.
Robert was a graduate of the University of Richmond where he majored in English and the Classics, and Vanderbilt University where he earned a PhD in Humanities. He was a Classics professor at Wake Forest University and Brooklyn College. His love of the work of Joseph Campbell in particular shaped many of his conversations about literature, which he shared to inspire students and family alike. In addition to his professorship, he built his own businesses in residential development and management consulting.
Robert will especially be remembered for his love of travel. Robert spent time working and adventuring in a number of countries including Algeria, Ghana, Nigeria, England, Sweden, France and Malaysia to name just a few. He would bring family on long road trips around the country to visit relatives or just to explore all of the natural wonders that exist around us. Whether it was a trip to a city or the country, each would be accompanied by a historical fact and a story.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Teresa Milasius of Lombard, IL and his sister Mary Hash Christian of Baton Rouge, LA. He is also survived by his children: Beverly Hash Koop of Cary, NC; Stephen Martin Hash of Lockhart, TX; Geoffrey Alexander Hash of Burlington, VT; and Daniel Robert Hash of Menands, NY; his grandchildren: Katherine S. Koop, Sarah E. Koop, Weston G. Hash, Lore R. Hash, Wyatt Z. Hash, Emma S. Hash, and Lilia C. Hash; and his stepchildren: Richard K. Kruzikas and Denise T. Kruzikas. He will be greatly missed.
A private Memorial Service will be held in the spring. Arrangements entrusted to Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home. 708-562-5900
