Robert J.
Trepes
Feb 15, 1929 — May 13, 2025
Hillside
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert J. Trepes (age 96) of Hillside, Illinois. Bob passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
Bob was born on February 15, 1929 in Chicago. At a young age, the family moved to a farm in Mauston, Wisconsin, where he spent his childhood with his parents and four sisters. At 19 years of age, Bob enlisted in the military. He served in the Korean War as a Howitzer gunner. After his service was completed, Bob ventured to Chicago and became a skilled carpenter. As Bob started his career, he met his lovely bride, Colette. They married in 1956 and moved to Hillside, Illinois to their forever home where they raised three children.
Bob enjoyed summer vacations at his parent's farm in Mauston where he passed down his love of nature to his children. Further adventures included visits to Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Canyon, and Pikes Peak. Bob looked forward to playing cards and attending traditional fall picnics with treasured friends and family. He enjoyed hunting which included an annual deer hunting pilgrimage over the Thanksgiving holiday. At the very least, Bob would bring back a fresh-cut Christmas tree to the excitement of his children. With Bob's farming experience, he had an expansive garden and was the envy of the neighborhood. Vegetables were plentiful and shared with family and friends.
With enthusiasm, Bob retired at age 62! Bob and Colette would spend leisurely days bike riding down the Prairie Path, and their vacation adventures out West continued. His carpentry skills continued to be utilized for his children's home improvement projects, in addition to being an on-call handyman for his neighbors. Bob was loved by all!
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Colette, nee Zielinski; loving father of Sandy (Steve) Condon; Roy (Laura) Trepes; and Jill (Mark) Moore; proud grandfather of Christine (Derek) Petersen; Samantha (Jenn) Jerding; Tim (Angelica Parkison) Jerding; Andrew (Kristen) Trepes; Alex (Samantha) Trepes; Sarah Moore and Kaitlyn Moore; great-grandfather of Aaron, Luke, Althea, Violet Olivia, Pearl, and George; preceded in death by his siblings Blanche (late Jack); Delores (Ronald); Anna Marie (late Gene) and Agnes (late Bob); fond uncle of many.
