Theodore "Ted"
Pappas
Feb 19, 1952 — Mar 10, 2025
Lombard
Theodore "Ted" Pappas of Lombard, age 73. Beloved husband of Kathy, nee Jones; loving father of Dawn (Brian) Birkland and Christina (Jeff) Byrnes; proud grandfather of Adelaide Zoe, Phoebe, Ciaran and Owynn Rose; dear brother of Lucy (George) Economos; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Ted grew up in Oak Park, Illinois and after graduating from Oak Park River Forest High School, he proudly served in the National Guard. He met his loving wife Kathy at Chicago Magnet Wire and he wooed her when he helped her change the oil in her car. To thank him, she made dinner for him, and he showed up with a bottle of wine but no corkscrew. After asking all of her neighbors and ultimately having no luck, Ted decided to push the cork into the bottle and spilled the wine all over their dinner. She married him anyway eleven months later and they remained ridiculously adorable for 48 years, right up until the end. They had two daughters with whom Ted shared his love of cooking and good music. Ted founded FBN Enterprises, a pallet company, and was a proud and involved business owner until he sold the company and retired. He was a fixture at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, where he attended elementary school as a boy, served the church throughout his life, and ran the kitchen at the annual festival and Easter dinners. After retiring he pursued his true passion of music and played bass guitar in a few bands, most recently and longest for the Baby Boomer rock n roll band, Claremont Drive. Ted was a billiards enthusiast, a genius in the kitchen, an all-around wonderful person, and the absolute best husband, father, and Papou. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will stay with us and we will do everything we can to honor him every day. Cermak Rd., Westchester on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All to meet Friday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 601 S.
