Theresa M. Raniere of Chicago, age 86. Beloved wife of the late Paul; loving mother of Mary (William), Peter, Madelyn (Gaile) and Elizabeth (Karl); proud grandmother of Paul and Kailey; dear sister of the late Diane (John).

Daughter of Irish immigrants, Theresa worked her way through college, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Alverno College in 1958. She began her career as a nurse at several Chicago area hospitals before specializing in Occupational Health and Safety – first working as an Occupational Health and Safety nurse and then obtaining her Master of Public Health degree from the University of Illinois Chicago while raising four children and working full time to support the family. She went on to have a long and noteworthy career advocating for workers' safety and health.  Theresa served on the board of the National Safety Council and was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the field with their 1996 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Theresa was a loving and kind person with a big heart and a lifelong zest for adventure and travel. She developed a large network of friends from many walks of life – from childhood friends; nieces, nephews, and cousins from across the world; to co-workers; neighbors; and fellow scrabble afficionados. She loved attending plays and participating in book groups, gathering for more than 50 years with the same potluck group, walking, and feeding the ducks in her neighborhood. Her memory and example will remain a blessing for generations to come.

Family and friends will be received at the Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Road, Westchester on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. proceeding to Divine Providence Church for an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
