Lieutenant Commander Thomas George Marousek, United States Navy, Retired, 61, passed away on June 30, 2026, in Ballston Lake, New York.  Born on November 18, 1964, in Westchester IL. Thomas lived a life marked by dedication to his family and his country.

Thomas began his distinguished career in service to the nation when he enlisted in the United States Navy on May 26, 1988.  He entered the Navy's nuclear power program, where his exceptional skill and commitment quickly became evident.  Over the years, he transitioned into the Navy's nuclear research and surface ship propulsion community, where his expertise and leadership were invaluable.  On May 6, 2000, Thomas was commissioned as a Lieutenant Commander- a testament to his hard work and unwavering dedication.  Throughout his career, he earned an impressive array of accolades; seven awards and twenty-one medals recognizing his outstanding contributions to the Navy and national defense.

Beyond his professional achievements, Thomas treasured time spent with his family.  He was a devoted husband to Michele Marousek and a proud father to Alexandria (Chris) Novitch and Samuel (Eilee) Marousek.  His legacy lives on through his beloved granddaughters:  Savannah, Charlotte and Avery Novitch, as well as Maeve and Sutton Marousek.  He was the fond brother of Eileen (John) Pennington, Gary (Karin) Marousek, Linda (Paul) Kuhn, Craig (Tina) Marousek, and Gail Marousek, and the dear uncle to 9 nephews/nieces and great uncle to 13 nephews/nieces.  He was predeceased by his parents, Delwyn Arthur Marousek and Barbara June (McCarrell) Marousek.

Thomas had a special love for bringing people together over food.  One of his favorite pastimes was boiling lobster for family gatherings- a tradition that will be fondly remembered by those who shared in these moments of joy.

On July 8, 2026, the Patriot Guard Riders of New York stood in honor of Thomas and escorted him home to his final resting place at the Saratoga National Cemetery.  Thomas' memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him.  A "Celebration of Life" event will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Westchester Community Church, 1840 Westchester Blvd., Westchester, Illinois.
