Walter "Tim"
Freel
Feb 27, 1962 — Jul 25, 2026
Oak Park
Walter "Tim" Freel, age 64, of Oak Park. Devoted son of the late James and Margaret (nee Keane) Freel. Beloved companion of Maureen Wallace. Proud grandfather of Emma Jazwiec and Lincoln Jazwiec. Dear brother of David Freel and Bernadette (nee Freel) Gillette, the late Geoffrey Freel and the late Christopher Freel. Fond uncle of Margaret "Maggie" (Michael) Broomfield, Finn Gillette and Brianna Freel. Dear nephew of Kathleen (late Thomas) Keane. Also survived by many cousins and friends.
Tim was highly skilled in multiple trades including but not limited to plumbing, brick laying, plastering, painting, roofing and lastly, carpentry. Ending his career with the Mid-American Regional Council carpenter union. Safety was very important to him; so much so that he obtained his OSHA 30 card. Every project or job he did was with perfection and determination to complete the job in the best way possible. He could help you with your car or anything else! He was always willing to lend his skills to help anyone fix a problem or complete a project properly and safely. He was the kind of person that you could call for help and he would spring into action to help you or your friend or relative with any task, big or small. He would help anyone with anything. Obviously, Tim enjoyed helping.
Not only could you call Tim to help, you could call him to just have fun, see a band, go to the lake, party, get into mischief or trouble and always defend you in a fight! He was the type of friend that you could always count on and a best friend for life. Tim was funny, intelligent, caring and faithful. Tim was a faithful Catholic, attending Mass, or watching the Mass on television.
Tim's love of nature and animals was expressed by his extensive knowledge of both. Animals were his specialty, most especially birds and dogs. The American Staffordshire Terriers was the breed that he raised and showed. Tim was a member of the American Staffordshire Terriers Club of America.
Tim loved spending time with the kids going to a zoo or a nature center. He enjoyed teaching them to fish and to dance. He attended all their events and milestones when he was able. He liked the song "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd and Tim lived his life being a simple kind of man, loving his family and friends.
