Bill was born in Chicago on October 22, 1932 to William and Marie Nihill, he grew up on the west side of Chicago in the Austin neighborhood and was a lifetime resident of the Chicago area. Bill and his cousin Richard were raised as brothers and remained close until Bill's passing. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School and Loyola University with a degree in accounting. He worked his entire career in accounting and finance for various industries. Bill served in the army during peace time post Korean war. He had a loyal west side Irish friend group that he maintained throughout his life. Dad was a passionate fan of all Chicago sports teams and loved to celebrate all Chicago wins. Bill met the love of his life, Marge Weber, and their first date was at a Chicago Blackhawks game set up by her dear friend, Joan Melligan. 60 years later, with four children and eight grandchildren in tow, Bill was known for being the caring patriarch of a large extended family. He was an avid reader and completed the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle every week (in ink). Bill was quiet but always quick witted and known for his dry sense of humor. He loved the community of Western Springs and the wonderful neighbors of the 5300 block of Central Avenue. All holidays were celebrated in grand fashion at the Nihill house, especially with the Sweetman's. In later years, the Mayslake Retirement Village community became a new home to Marge and him. Dad greatly enjoyed being a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady's Chapel. Bill was extraordinarily kind, a great listener and provided counsel to many. He never turned away from anyone in need. In honor of Bill, if you see a person in need, help them in any way you can.
